Where to stay / On the course
The villa is on the resort you are playing, so the morning is a walk to the clubhouse rather than a drive across town. Kitchens, washers and a balcony over a fairway come as standard, and most resorts keep two or three courses on the property.
Who it suits
Two rounds a day is only sane when the second tee is five minutes from the shower. That is what these are for.
Villas come in one, two, three and four bedroom layouts in the same block, so a big group stays together without sharing beds.
The beach is a ten minute drive from every one of these. If nobody in the group was going to swim anyway, stay where the golf is.

Two bedroom condos to four bedroom townhomes and villas
Four courses by Love, Norman, Fazio and Dye, all perennials on the Golf Digest list for South Carolina. Each section has its own pool, and the Yacht Club and North Tower villas share the largest outdoor pool in the area. Two restaurants on the property and Barefoot Landing across the waterway.

Villas a short walk from the clubhouse at Legends Golf Resort, with Heathland, Moorland and Parkland on the property. The Ailsa Pub at the clubhouse is where the bets get settled.

One to three bedroom villas
Two courses on the property, PineHills and Palmetto, a mile from the ocean near the middle of Myrtle Beach. Multiple outdoor pools, an indoor pool complex with a lazy river and hot tub, a fitness centre, and group pavilions with grills for the evening.

One to four bedroom villas and condos
Three championship courses by Rees Jones, Willard Byrd and Dan Maples with the fairways outside the door. Indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, a sauna, tennis and pickleball, and four places to eat on the resort. Calabash seafood is a short drive.

A quiet, laid back spot surrounded by the Glens courses, minutes from Glen Dornoch and Heather Glen and a short drive from the North Myrtle Beach sand. Grills, free parking and patios onto the green.

The other options
A balcony over the water and breakfast on site. Easiest when not everyone in the group is playing golf.
Kitchens, laundry and separate bedrooms. The cheapest way to put eight or twelve golfers under one roof.
One address, one kitchen table, and somewhere to sit up arguing about the round.
