Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

It is a shame how they take care of this golf course. This is the second time I scheduled this course for our group. The first time was also a big disappointment.

Beautiful club and great course. Slow round again - CPO didnt help. Unanimous interest in returning.

If I only had one course to play on our trip, it would be Caledonia.

Probably the best golf course in the area. From tea to green this course will challenge you. Course was in great shape. Staff was very friendly. Another must play.

Course is usually the best of the week but some of the putting surfaces were not a good as normal and pace of play was a little slow especially on the back nine.

Caledonia is a beautiful property. The greens were soft, yet true. The staff was cordial and accommodating. Beautiful flower beds, and trees, just gorgeous. A must play course.

We always enjoy the course and this year did not disappoint. It was our first round of the trip and all of the guys love the layout. We play it every year.

Wasn’t happy being rushed to golf starting around the 6th hole. We were keeping up with the group ahead of us. With the money we paid we were told if we didn’t speed up we might have to skip a hole. Not happy

A great lay-out but very obvious all they care about is maximizing profits. Traps were a joke, haven't been machine raked in weeks. Slow bumpy greens with multiple grass types growing. So disappointed as this used to be a MB gem! Terrrible!

In my opinion the best course in Myrtle Beach. Beautiful and stunning backdrops, azaleas in full bloom along the ponds. Course was in amazing condition and the layout was very enjoyable. Staff were excellent, and the fish chowder at the turn was a great touch to the authenticity of the area. #1 course and experience for our trip!

Unfortunately, we did not play the course because of weather however we have played Caledonia many times before over the past 22 years and it is our most favorite course in Myrtle Beach.

Beautiful course and layout even in winter

Notified that it was cart path only just prior to teeing off due to overseeding. Then told to maintain a pace of play or we’ll be told to pick up and move to the next hole. Played True Blue the day before and it was not cart path only.

Wet conditions didn’t dampen the mood playing this gem. Toss up with the Dunes for best course.

Great Golf ......a little trouble getting to Driving range at True Blue ....but all worked out since we got there a little early.. it would have been nice to know before hand....coarse was FANTASTIC

Pretty but not as amazed by it as I had hoped. The greens were very inconsistent

Best of the bunch! Great atmosphere but one odd thing: house rule where you could ground your club in all traps and take a practice swing in the traps. Very unusual.

Always top course

Loved the course itself. Was a very slow pace on the day we played which killed the rhythm of the game. Waited on all tee shots, shots to the green and second ones on par 5’s. Ruined the day. I would however play it again. Challenging track

Awesome course with really nice conditions from tee to green but the pace of play was not good ! 5 hour round, waited on every single shot. Would like to play again, need to be in the first few groups of the day would eliminate a 5 hour round.

Best course in MB area consistently. We have played this course seven times in the 25 years we have been coming to Myrtle Beach. Course was they dryest it has ever been, but still stood up to be such a wonderful track!

Beautiful course and the fish stew at the turn was amazing. Clubhouse was beautiful and the course was in superb condition. It does lack a driving range just in case people didn’t know that.

There was no reason that we had to play cart path only. The bunkers were terrible. Way over priced.

Love Mike Stranz courses, but Tobacco Road is my favorite, then True Blue. Windy when we played. I’m a 17, shot a 94. Greens became quite quick as it warmed up, lots of dirt or fertilizer on the balls early on.

Great course, great staff, had a wonderful time.

This course was almost perfect. Some fairways were not cut well. I do recommend this course above Arrowhead. I rated this course as my second (2) best course.

Caledonia never lets us down. Year after year this course has provided us with a phenomenal end to our Myrtle Beach trip. There is nothing missing from the full golf experience at Caledonia.

We enjoyed playing the course and it was in great shape.

We play here every year. The pro was nice enough to accommodate us for a 9 hole relay over at True Blue since Caledonia was booked.

It doesn't get much better. told my fellow golfers this course alone is worth a 12-hour drive. One thing was disappointed as they need more Finns available.

Sheer beauty, amazing course

Greens have come back well from last year! Everyone there was super! No problems with getting a rain check for one of our 20 golfers that had to leave. Had cart restrictions on par 3's ans number 2 and 4. Unlike TPC the starter unlocked the computer on the cart so our handicap golfer could go our on the fairway!

The best course I've ever played. Immaculate shape. The drive into the course is breathtaking.

Obviously the greens are a big issue, but the rest of the course and experience was delightful. The frozen mint towels were unbelievable!

It’s just in awful shape. Especially the greens. This makes zero sense: Lots of labor working in flowers. Great design. Was incredibly disappointed to drive 5 hours each way to see this Stranz course.

Favorite course. Only 3 greens remain a little rough from their chemical “accident” … the rest of the course beautiful. Still a 5 despite their recovery of greens.

Outstanding golf course.

This was our 2nd time playing it. Awesome course but disappointing that several greens were damaged. We were made aware ahead of time, so no surprises with conditions. That being said, we would absolutely return.

Paid $199 to play there and 6 of the greens were in really bad condition. We should receive some type of refund for that.

Very disappointed with condition of greens. They told us 4 greens were impacted. Was 6-9 and most of the backside. Unfair to charge full price for poor condition. Should receive some type of credit. No driving range?? Beautiful facility!

Everything was great especially the condition of of fairways and speed of the greens. The beauty of the course is wonderful especially the southern oak trees. I will play this course again.

Some bad greens this trip

Beautiful setting, but 4 greens were very bumpy, which is the only reason I rated Pine Lakes higher.

7 greens were really bad never informed us before we started

The course layout is still beautiful. The problem with 6 or so greens was VERY upsetting. We paid a premium price for a not premium course.

The course layout is outstanding. The staff was very helpful. Some of the greens had no grass, but they were carefully dressed to put smoothly and at the same speed as the grass.

Gorgeous course but pace of play is ridiculous. They obviously do not care about the golfers experience just packing on more than is prudent. We made it through 13 in about 5 hours and finally had to quit.

This ranks in my Top 5 golf courses ever played. Will look to play this every time we visit Myrtle Beach.

The sand bunkers were in poor condition, not up to standard expected at a top ranked golf course. Otherwise this course would receive a 5 star review.

Really a disappointment

For how highly regarded this course is, it was in terrible shape. Grass clippings all over the fairways, green side bunkers were basically mud and 4 or 5 of the greens look like they had burnt out and were painted green.

Course conditions were not up to their usual standards, sand traps were in poor shape

One of my favorite courses in all of Myrtle Beach. However, the tee boxes and some parts of the fairways and surrounding area were not in good shape. Always willing to pay a premium but for courses that are in pristine condition. That was not the case here

Fantastic golf course and staff.

By far the best experience. Will say that while our group did play behind pace a few holes, being threatened with having to skip a hole (closest group was still 2 holes back) was not appreciated. We stepped it up and remained 2 holes ahead. But would play there again no question!!

Cream of the crop... Great Southern hospitality here to go along with just a spectacular piece of property. Free chowder at the turn, to heckling golfers on the porch at 18 was awesome. Close to Hilton Head layout....

Wow. Just wow. From the entrance, to the fairways and greens, Caledonia was just in great shape. Do yourself a favor and pay attention to the ratings and slope before you decide on a tee box - don’t let the yardage be the only deciding factor.

What can one say about this course.. always a top 5 on the strand and always just a great course!!! (we played right after a tropical storm and additional days of rain), but we all enjoyed this course

Disappointing. Great track, but large hole aeration of tees, and small hole aeration of greens the day before play, combined with what seemed like alibis for other poor course conditions due to a hurricane weeks before, including rraps that hadnt been raked with recently sprayed weeds wasnt the quailty we paid for. Plus the offer of a refund after two holes for a course 35 minutes from MB wasn't an added benefit. Trip.organizer should be advised of poor course conditions in advance and offere another alternative.
